Introduction to Membership
PTA's foundation is its membership, and the Membership Chair plays a crucial role in recruiting new members. Without members, PTA's initiatives cannot be realized. Membership is open to anyone who shares National PTA's mission and values, and inclusivity is a core commitment of the organization. PTA actively seeks to embrace diversity in all its forms, including culture, race, ethnicity, beliefs, and socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. PTA has three levels: Local PTA Unit, Louisiana PTA, and National PTA. National PTA is the largest and oldest nonprofit volunteer organization advocating for children's well-being, with a mission to enhance the lives of all children.

2024-25 Theme: Join the PTA Adventure!
The 2024-25 theme for Louisiana PTA is “Join the PTA Adventure,” which points to the fun side of PTA and the direction of PTA’s work. It also emphasizes the importance of membership. How can you keep PTA fun for yourself and others? What direction is your PTA headed? Have you planned for the PTA’s future? What does your PTA adventure look like? The philanthropic work of PTA is a huge personal opportunity to give to others and to positively impact the lives of children to help them reach their potential! If you like, you can add your PTA name to the "Join the PTA Adventure!" logo on Canva.
Membership Goals
Louisiana PTA has a 2024-25 goal of 11,000 members for its 102nd year. We have 10,630 for 2023-24 year! Thanks to everyone who helps to spread the important message and mission of PTA! 2024-25 Membership Cards
LAPTA will email the 2024-25 Membership Card template to the Local Unit. Then the Local Unit emails the digital card or prints the card on paper for distribution to its members. With the new LAPTA Member Perks, businesses will need to see the member card in either the digital or paper format. Please tell your members that perks can be found at LouisianaPTA.org/perks and to keep their card handy! Email LAPTA for the template or download it when you submit dues.
If you communicate with your members electronically, you can also share this Digital Badge. Customize the Digital Membership Badge on Canva, share with your members, and encourage them to share on social media. Let them know they are a member of the Local PTA Unit, Louisiana PTA, and National PTA! Many people don't know this.

2. Download & Email Roster
Update the roster for all new members for whom you are submitting dues. Email to office@LouisianaPTA.org. Download a free version of Microsoft Excel called Libre here.
The membership rosters provided to Louisiana PTA contain private information. PTA respects the rights to privacy each member expects. LAPTA and our Local PTAs will not release PTA membership lists to non-members or outside interests or use membership lists for personal gain or profit.
Membership Resources
To bolster your membership recruitment activities, National PTA has developed a suite of materials, including a campaign toolkit that outlines how to effectively communicate the value of PTA membership. "Membership Resources" has a suite of materials including a comprehensive campaign toolkit, graphics, materials, a campaign implementation checklist, and videos. PTAs can genuinely represent their communities when they respect differences, acknowledge shared commonalities, and develop meaningful priorities. When PTAs represent their communities, they gain strength and effectiveness through increased volunteer and resource support.

Honorary Membership Pins
Volunteers are the heart of PTAs. Honor those volunteers who go above and beyond for others and contribute to the mission of PTA. Think about those who invested their time devoted PTA or to the service of children, such as a PTA volunteer, outstanding teachers and paraprofessionals, a community member who volunteers regularly at the school, school staff member, school superintendent, principal, school board member, police officer, or other professionals who work in support of students. The volunteer does not have to be a member of PTA and is not required to be well-known beyond their own area of service. These are items that a PTA can expense and include in its budget. Funds support the LAPTA Grants Program. Allow three weeks for delivery, or schedule pick up in Mandeville or Shreveport at check-out. Awards do not include voting privilege or actual membership in PTA. There are two levels of recognition for a one-time donation of $15 or $50.
LAPTA Honorary Life Member Award ($50)
This is the highest level of recognition by LAPTA for those who make distinguished contributions. It has special significance as an enduring symbol of outstanding and faithful service. Purchase includes the LAPTA Honorary Life Member pin and a personalized certificate for a one-time donation of $50.
Annual Membership Awards
LAPTA has a goal of 11,000 members for our 102nd year in 2024-25 and we need our Local PTA Units to help reach that goal! Qualification for awards is done without application. LAPTA uses the information on the Local PTA Unit Membership Reports emailed to submit@LouisianaPTA.org by April 1, 2025. The annual membership awards will be announced in April 2025.
